The Dressmaker's Ledger
Formal autumn attire — in the spirit (though not the strict letter) of a Regency evening
Pray, do not feel the need to procure a bonnet, a tailcoat, or to commission a gown from the modiste. Modern formalwear in our autumn palette shall be most warmly welcomed — though those moved to incorporate a touch of Regency flair (an empire waist, a silk cravat, a strand of pearls, an evening glove) shall be especially admired.
— For the Ladies —
Gowns of Floor Length
Formal floor-length gowns in jewel-toned silks, velvets, or chiffons. Empire waists, off-the-shoulder necklines, capelets, & opera gloves are all encouraged. A masquerade mask for the ball — if you so desire.
— For the Gentlemen —
Black Tie Preferred
A tuxedo or dark suit in navy, hunter green, or charcoal. Velvet jackets, silk cravats, pocket squares & boutonnières in copper or gold most heartily approved. Should you wish to don a mask, the answer is yes.
